The Assemly Challenge

Im not quite sure how this snuck by me, but hey, better late than never! Thank you Mr. Olsen for allowing me to turn this in :) We have had lots of practice with inventor so making these randomly selected cubes was easy. Today I helped sammy use inventor, he had trouble finding out how to use the constrain tool. Israel helped me take pictures using the webcam, I completely forgot how to do it.

Card Board Canoe Challenge!

List of all accomplished Achievements. Total = 13

Criteria & Constraints- Whole objective of the project was to build a boat that will float in the pool using ONLY CARD BOARD AND DUCT TAPE. The boat had to be sturdy enough to go across the pool and back. Also, any cardboard that touched water had to be covered in duct tape so no bits of cardboard would fall off into the pool.

Sketch Ideas - / Prototype.

This is a design that we did not use. We call it the "Cast Away" It would have worked really well and been watertight, but it required too many materials. We wanted something more simple. Included side walls and a rope made of duct tape to pull across the pool.

This is the "Pentagon" It had 5, 1 foot tall walls. Pointed to cut through the water and wide for stability. We wanted something a little more creative and new so we made a new design.

This was the final design we used and created. We adapted it from the pentagon design, but it had higher side walls and was bigger to allow more weight. Instead of the pointed tip it arched up which made less water enter the inside of the boat.

Select an Approach - + High walls
+ Thick layers of Card Board
+ Simple design (practical)
+ Could support a lot of weight and still float
- A lot of tape was needed
- intense labor
- Unpointed tip didn't cut through the water very well
? How to use less tape
? what made it fall apart at the end
! Pointed tip
! Thicker bottom
! More duct tape in all of the layers

Build It!

The Early Bird Gets the Achievement

Our team, Suck My Kayak, built our boat the fastest by far. We had the structure completed by the first week of building. After that, we just covered it in duct tape.

We won all of the test achievements. (5 total)

Generate Feedback. (see "Select an Approach" above) ^

We also created our own achievement which was to put more than one person in that boat at one time. Me and Israel both were in the boat, and even both stood up at one time!

Brick By Brick Challenge!

The Basic Brick

T-Bone

Axe Head

Tri Pole

My Very Special Brick

For the seeking help achievement I asked Federico If he knew how to save the bricks as images and he helped me save, and upload them.

Today, I helped Kojo get more familiar with the Inventor program and showed him, without doing it for him, how to create the T Bone using lines. I also helped sammy with his Tri Pole Brick.

Just Some Helpful Feedback On My Blog

"Wow, that Chase kid is gorgeous" - Israel Dedina
"This blog is amazing. I spend all my time looking at this page... sometimes I dream about it..." - Kojo Sefa-Boakye
"Chase, get off the internet, this blog is horrible." - Chase's Mother

My First Blog Post!

So here is a little bit about me, my goal and dream is to be a proffesional actor on Broadway. I love all musical theatre, old and new. Yeah, I know, maybe not the coolest thing for a guy to do, but I skate and play a lot of Call Of Duty also. So pretty much, this is the documentation of my Junior year in one aspect. You ready for this?
